Screenprinting is our main printing method at Mark Two Print - most valuable for many promotional items. It can be done in a variety of ways, with our printers using a mix of machine-based printing and hand-printing.
In this print method, ink is pushed through a mesh screen directly onto the end product using a squeegee; a wide tool with a soft yet blunt rubber end. Each colour is printed individually, which means the process of doing multiple colour items, and waiting for the inks to dry before adding the next colour, can result in a lengthy process.
The end result is a high quality print that looks effective at all distances, and the colours pop out vibrantly.
Transfer printing is a special way of bringing full colour designs onto products like bags and some clothing items like t-shirts.
This print method is used when screen printing isn't suitable, e.g. curved products.
The design is printed onto a specific type of transfer paper and a weeder is used to cut around the design.
At the heat press machine, the design is placed over the end product, and a slab of heat is pressed over the design for roughly 10 seconds. Once lifted, all that remains is to peel off the rest of the special paper, as the inks have already been pushed into the item.
Pad Printing is an especially useful printing method as an alternative to screen printing, primarily when the print is smaller and needs to be more precise, or if you require a printed design on a curved or uneven object - good examples of these include golf balls and pens.
The design is placed onto an engraved plate and a silicone pad is pushed down onto the design, transferring the inks onto the pad in the process. Finally, the pad is stamped onto the product. Like screenprinting, the result is vibrant with its colours, and overall more precise with the smaller details.
